Structural laminated glass glazing

Who would have thought so much could change in a year? It was about a year ago, when DAG were approached to supply the glass for a leisure centre. Sounded like another standard job.

We will need you to install some of it as well, they said. All in day’s work, we said. How wrong could we be? A year on and DAG are amazed with how much they have achieved.

So what did we achieve?

First there was the glass work in the entrance. Standard glass façade. No problem.

We have this fabric we would like to have in the glass, they requested. The glass façade was to be made up of panels 2000mmx3000mm in size. Glass panels this size we could produce, the fabric however… Luckily, the nature of the material, the location (swimming pool behind) and the lighting meant that we could create a ripple effect with the material with no visible joint line. Structural laminated glass glazing. Tick.

Next, was the shimmer mirror in the main gym. Again, producing the panels was the easy part. Our team in the factory are real pros. The wall to clad was the challenge, it had varying ceiling heights and protruding columns. Good job our install team is just as good our factory team.

The London leisure centre on paper seemed like a straight forward job. It turned out to be one of our larger scale projects with curveballs at every turn, that we are happy to say we were able to overcome. Here’s to the next project with the same client.
